A neighbor came over last night and we watched the Thursday Night NFL game on the NFL Network. I don’t have a hi-def projector yet, so we didn’t watch the game in the bar. We had to make do with the 51" set in the family room. And strangely, the game wasn’t in surround sound. Life can be rough sometimes.
Overall, I was very impressed with the NFL Network’s coverage of the game. Lots of wide angle shots to take advantage of HD resolution, which allows the viewer to see more of the field while still being able to see what individual players are doing. Fox could do well to study what the NFL is doing to adapt to HD.
It was strange to hear Bryant Gumbel’s tenor voice doing play-by-play, but I can get used to it— he’s smarter than most play-by-play guys (e.g., Al Micheals) and still a big fan of the game.
Food-wise, it was a simple night— a couple of Hebrew Nationals and a couple of beers during the game. I’m out of neon green relish, so the dogs didn’t feature the works, but were still tasty.
