We had family over for Easter. I put a ham in the oven for bulk meat, and grilled a couple of racks of lamb. For a sauce, I steeped peppercorns in beef stock for an hour, added some chopped morel mushrooms, and thickened with butter and flour. A couple of the kids tried bites of the lamb, but they generally shied away from it. Dobry scarfed it, though.
One brother-in-law brought over something we affectionately call Lutheran Potatoes— finely diced potatoes, cheese, sour cream, butter and corn flakes over the top. I like his potatoes so much, that I adjusted the way I make my latkes.
Another brother-in-law made a Mario Batali appetizer recipie, the name of which I forget, but was something like, ‘Clouds.’ It was smallish squares of a rolled yeast bread dough, deep fried in olive oil, and served with chunks of parmesan, prosciutto and salami. Wow.
On my guest book at least. I had been getting dozens of spam messages a day, with attempts to post links to Viagra-type sites, so I wrote a pretty aggressive filter to keep them out. I still see attempts in my server logs, but so far, nothing’s gotten through. Happy.
