It’s an accoustically transparent Cinemascope screen that I built myself. The speakers are behind the screen, so all sounds in the front of the room come from the screen— not above, below or from the sides of the screen. And I like the look better without seeing any speakers.
I made masking panels so that I have black border tight to the picture for 1.85 ratio movies or HDTV.
This is a screen capture, showing off the picture from my new projector. I really wanted another CRT projector, but the thought of hanging a couple hundred pounds of projector from my ceiling made my back hurt.
I don’t have satellite or cable in the media room; I figured the only TV that’d be watched here would be a big game, which should always be televised locally. These shots are from my HDTV tuner, which is connected to my antenna system, which is fed by the antenna up on my roof.
Here’s how not to take a screen capture. I was trying to get my first screen capture, thinking that the screen was bright enough to get a relatively quick shutter speed on Mary’s camera. Wrong. Oh well, at least the turf is sharp. And now I know to press the ‘freeze’ button on my HDTV tuner to get a capture.
I don’t have a tripod, so I propped the camera on the bar to get these pictures, which explains the angle from which they were taken.
